Energy Smart Asia started in the business of energy efficiency in 2011. Its primary focus was on retrofitting commercial lighting systems with efficient LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes). Although LED retrofitting represents the most quantifiable savings and attractive investment returns, capital outlay and budget cycles always stalled a company’s plan to invest in the technology.
To address this financial hurdle, we launched Green Retrofit Agenda (GRA) in 2012 - a turn-key program that allows a project to fund itself using the savings generated from the upgrade through World Bank IFC's Sustainable Finance Program. The overwhelming response from our clients however presented another opportunity for us to network with private financing companies.
Early on 2013, Energy Smart Asia (ESA) had the opportunity to establish a collaboration with Clean Energy Developers (CED), a leading "Sustainable Energy Company" in the United States. ESA became an exclusive distributor for CED's products and services in the Philippines. This paved the way for ESA's entry to the renewable energy industry in commercial and utility side solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. To date, we continue to build the Renewable Energy Division and currently have over 100 MW of projects in development or co-development throughout North America. We are also looking at developing a 5MW solar farm in the Philippines under its utility feed-in tariff program.
Clean Energy Developers (CED) has partnered with many of the world's leading manufacturers of efficient lighting technology like Philips and Cree to provide our clients with a full line of energy efficient light fixtures, replacement lamps and comprehensive solutions that reduce energy consumption. CED's manufacturing facilities are equipped to handle custom builds to provide custom products without the additional expenses typically associated with such orders.
